This is one of the few thrillers I've read where I really did not see that coming...
My favorite book of ALL time. Although it is a YA book Anna and the Swallow Man is a book for all ages. Told from the perspective of a 7 year old girl, this book addresses the Nazi invasion of Poland in the late 1930's. Masterfully written and possibly an allegory, I would recommend this book to everyone.
A startlingly honest portrayal of sisterhood, and the sacrifices we, as humans, are willing to make for those we love, all set in occupied France.
OK. Don't let the covers fool you. It looks like a stupid girl power YA novel that just makes you cringe. WRONG. This series has enchanting, complex characters, subtle, intricate plotlines and oh my gosh did that just happen? SHE CAN'T DO THAT!!! moments. If you are looking for a series that will make you feel all the feels, then you, my friend, have found it.
I have found an author who I not only enjoy reading but also ardently admire. Sarah J. Maas writes her stories in such a way that they force the reader to really think. She approaches complex, sometimes loaded topics with grace and sensitivity leaving the reader to form their own opinion. This series is for older readers because of the content.
I love Jane Austen and Persuasion is by far my favorite of her books.I suggest this version, not only because it's beautiful, but because the editors notes are AMAZING and give the reader a whole new perspective on the book.
