Augusta, GA—Main Street Rag Publishing Company of Charlotte, NC, has published Anna
Harris-Parker’s chapbook Dress, which explores themes of ritual, faith, loss, transition, and
discomfort. The title for her chapbook comes from something her maternal grandmother
recommended: “Always buy a CCC dress so you can wear it to church, the cemetery, or a
cocktail party.” These occasions provide the framework for this debut collection.
Anna Harris-Parker is the author of the chapbook Dress (Main Street Rag, 2019). Her poems
have appeared in AMP, Cellpoems, Slant, and other journals. A graduate of Converse College
and Wichita State University, she currently teaches at Augusta University.
Praise for Dress:
“What is inherited? Memory, absence, habit. Anna Harris-Parker articulates her family's history
in a collage illustrating loss & love. Scenes from girlhood, adulthood & what comes in between,
conjure the speaker finally beyond what is passed down. She's not confined to the past, instead
moving toward the horizon of her own desires, clear & urgent. This is a compassionate and
moving debut.” —Derek Berry
